Because of the weather, the Costa del Sol is made for outdoor sports.  From golf to tennis, waterskiing, paddle surfing, go-karting, hiking and yoga on the beach…you name it, we’ve probably got it! There are literally so many things to do in San Pedro de Alcantara.

The Costa del Sol has not been named the Costa del Golf without good reason – it is simply a golfer’s paradise. There are a multitude of courses within a 10-minute drive of San Pedro Apartments, the closest being Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club, just a few minutes’ drive away.  Other courses nearby are La Quinta Golf, Los Naranjos, Las Brisas, Aloha Golf, Guadalmina and Atalaya – to name but a few!  There are some 45 golf courses situated along the Costa del Sol, four of those are ranked in the top 10 in Europe.  Many of our guests come on a golf trip in the winter months, knowing they’ll have some sunshine and a convenient place to stay.

Water Sports

There are just 3 cable-ski centers in the whole of Spain, and one of them is here in San Pedro de Alcantara.  Located on a lake just outside the main town, water-skiing, knee boarding and wake boarding sessions are offered for both beginners and experts.  At the beach you can also find jet-skis, pedalos, banana rides and more – whatever floats your boat!

Sports centre

San Pedro Leisure Centre is just down the road from our apartments.  This large centre currently has facilities for football, volleyball, tennis, fitness classes, a fully equiped gym, and there is a big indoor swimming pool to enjoy and keep fit!

The Beach

To the south of the town is the beach (about 2 kms from San Pedro Apartments).   The beach is wide and long, and extends for about 2 kms.  It is backed by a deep promenade, which is great for a relaxing stroll, or running and rollerblading if you are feeling a bit more energetic. Along the promenade are a number of beachside restaurants and “chiringuitos” (beach bars) serving fresh fish and other traditional dishes.

San Pedro Town

Most of the shops in San Pedro are small, locally owned enterprises, with a few interesting boutiques if you have a hunt around. San Pedro Market:  Every Thursday morning, you can walk a few minutes from San Pedro apartments and find yourself at this busy weekly market.  You can buy everything here from fruit and veg, to clothes, shoes, jewellery and other nik-naks.  There are also a couple of cafes for anyone who prefers to just sit and watch the bustle of the market go by.

Puerto Banus

5 minutes away by car, Puerto Banus also has a market day which is held every Saturday morning.  There is also a big department store called Corte Ingles; some of the big name stores such as Zara, Mango etc.  and of course it wouldn’t be Puerto Banus if you didn’t have the expensive designer boutiques.   The port itself is also worth a visit just to marvel at the enormous private yachts and to settle into a bar overlooking the port for some people watching, it’s fascinating!

About 10 minutes away by car, Marbella town centre also has all the big brand shops, as well as a wealth of lovely boutiques in the pretty old quarter, where the tiny lanes lead on to Orange Square.  You can spend a lovely day here, sightseeing, eating and shopping!
